MCC Upward Bound Students on the Downtown Campus

Over the summer on the Downtown Campus, Upward Bound (UB) program participants worked with the Engineering Department's Joel Freeman and Bert Gamory. Students learned basic coding skills to program a robotic car that had to travel a maze. Two teams succeeded in getting their cars from the start to finish without running into walls or crossing lines. More importantly, students learned the process of testing their work and making changes to improve their work.

Also at the Downtown Campus, for the second summer, UB participants enthusiastically worked with David Williams from the Criminal Justice Department. Outlines of bodies and investigative excitement filled the hall as students learned how to set up, investigate and preserve the integrity of a crime scene. They also learned how to fingerprint and make a casting of someone's foot as part of evidence collection.
