D’Alessandris awarded grant to help establish Physics Education Wiki

The College Open Textbooks Collaborative (https://collegeopentextbooks.org/) has selected Seeding the PhysWiki as the Next Generation STEMWiki  to receive a grant to promote the adoption of open textbooks and open educational resources in undergraduate physics education. The proposal, by Paul D’Alessandris (Engineering Science and Physics) and Erik Christensen (South Florida Community College), will use D’Alessandris’ introductory physics curriculum, Spiral Physics, as the core physics text in the Dynamic Open Textbook Project.

The Dynamic Open Textbook Project is a multi-institutional collaborative venture to develop the next generation of open-access textbooks to improve STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) at all levels of higher learning. The central aim of the Dynamic Textbook Project is to develop and disseminate free, virtual, customizable textbooks that will substitute for current, commercial paper texts in multiple courses at post-secondary institutions.

The College Open Textbooks Collaborative is funded by The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. College Open Textbooks is a collection of colleges, governmental agencies, education non-profits, and other education-related organizations that are focused on the mission of driving the awareness and advocacy for open textbooks.
