Scholarship Program for Indigenous Native and Alaskan Students (SPINAS)

Monroe Community College and the PRISM Multicultural Center acknowledges the Indigenous People of Western New York.  We honor the sovereignty of the Six Nations-the Mohawk, Cayuga, Onondaga, Oneida, Seneca and Tuscarora and their land.  Monroe Community College and the Native American SUNY Western Consortium have collaborated to help advance and enhance services to Native American and Alaskan indigenous students who attend MCC.

The SPINAS program is a combination of students meeting once or twice a month to discuss topics that influence and help the indigenous communities and to focus on career goals. By being involved students will earn scholarship funds (ranging from $1,000.00 to $3,000.00 dollars) a semester.  To qualify students must attend one of the informational seminar listed below.

WEDNESDAY              FEBRUARY 2nd        3PM-4PM         PRISM CTR.  Building 1 Room 108

MONDAY                     FEBRUARY 7            6PM-7PM         ZOOM (Link will be sent to students who choose this time slot)

They will be given information about the scholarship program, and will have the opportunity to ask questions.  All students who are interested will then apply online Scholarships Online.  The deadline date is FRIDAY, February 11, 2022 for applying.

Please e-mail me at Sprovost@monroecc.edu to let me know what presentation you will be attending.

The PRISM Multicultural Center is working to create outstanding examples of culturally responsive interactions, programs, mentoring and advising to help Native students succeed.
