Ways That MCC Supports Students in Health Care Programs

Margaret Kaminsky, dean of STEM and Health, was interviewed for a Rochester Business Journal article, "Local healthcare education programs make inroads on diversity," published in the Nov. 1 issue.

She discussed ways that MCC supports historically underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students pursuing health care careers.

Precollegiate programs like the Science and Technology Entry Program help students in grades 7 through 12 prepare for college success and increase their participation rate in STEM professions.

The Health Profession Opportunity Grants remove financial/academic barriers for students and increase opportunities to gain employment in the healthcare field.

The article also quotes MCC nursing student Philip Phommala about the peer support he's received at MCC through a men's league for male nursing students.
