The Union College STEP Program's participation in the STEP Science Bowl 2008 at Monroe Community College and their second year win of the "Team Spirit Award" was featured in the AboutU section of the Union News: <<https://www.union.edu/N/DS/s.php?s=7649>>
We received the following note from Union STEP that should be shared with all of those who supported the Science Bowl and especially the MCC CSTEP program which hosted Union for dinner and an MCC information session during Union's Rochester visit.
"I want to thank you and all of your colleagues for hosting such an awesome event. It was an amazing experience for our 9 STEP students, their parents and our coaches (one of our coaches is a STEP alumna). Not only did our students make connections with faculty, staff and deans of the three colleges we visited but each student left with a renewed determination to excel in math and science. Each year we attend the STEP Regional Science Bowl we leave wanting to know more science so we can do better. And we improved our academic performance this year. Listening to the CSTEP students at Monroe Community College was an added bonus since we tell our kids all the time about CSTEP but to actually meet real CSTEP students and learn about their plans and current work/life situations makes it easier for them to see that this is truly an attainable goal. You went out of your way to make sure everything we could possibly need was provided for. You must have been pulled in so many directions this past weekend but you were always smiling and encouraging everyone. Please know that all of the time, effort and money put into this weekend is very much appreciated by all of us at Union College."
