Faculty Enrichment Session on Wednesday, June 10

Please join us for “The Holocaust Experience from a Musical Perspective,”  an enrichment session especially for MCC faculty on Wednesday, June 10 from 10 am to noon in the Warshof Conference Center, Flynn Campus Center, Monroe A. The event is hosted by the Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Project. RSVP today by contacting Linda Ingraham, Liberal Arts, at <mailto:lingraham@monroecc.edu> or x3321.

The session will feature Amy Lynn Wlodarski, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Music, and Choir Director at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa. Wlodarski is an alumna of the Eastman School of Music whose expertise includes exploring the Holocaust through music. Her presentation will focus on how composers and musicians were targeted during the Third Reich through various policies, discriminatory institutions, and exhibitions. Participants will also explore the transference of Jewish music-making to the ghettos and concentration camps.

Participants will be given bibliographies for further reading and musical samples to share with students enrolled in college-level Holocaust courses. This will include suggested readings, films/documentaries, and on-line resources.
