MCC Foundation Receives National Ranking for Overall Giving

Monroe Community College Foundation ranks 16th in private giving among the nation’s community colleges according to the Council for Aid to Education’s annual Voluntary Support of Education (VSE) survey.  The article, “Private Giving Hits Record Total,” as published in the Feb 17 issue of Inside Higher Ed., states that “contributions to American colleges and universities rose by 4.9 percent in 2005, to a total of $25.6 billion.”

The MCC Foundation realized an increase of 18 percent in giving last year – more than three times the national average across two- and four-year institutions. In 2005, the MCC Foundation raised $2,859,891 for student scholarships, faculty grants, equipment purchases and to provide seed money for innovative programs at MCC. The growth was fueled by increased giving to the MCC Annual Fund, major gifts, planned giving and increased participation in special events.

"As we look to the future, we are particularly excited about the opportunity for expansion of alumni giving and are encouraged by steady rates of alumni involvement at MCC particularly when national trends have been declining.” said Mark Pastorella, director of alumni giving.
