Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Project members hosted two successful events during the past week that connected our community with MCC alumnus Salva Dut and the struggles faced by our planet’s newest nation, South Sudan.
The 7th annual Walk for Water raised $3,000 for Water for South Sudan on October 5 and gave people an opportunity to help villagers source fresh water, pursue education, and grow communities.
On October 8, the HGHRP hosted three presentations that brought more than 1,200 students, teachers and community members to MCC to hear Salva Dut and Linda Sue Park discuss Park’s book, A Long Walk to Water. Dut and Park brought the book to life for hundreds of middle schoolers who are reading it as part of the English Language Arts curriculum. A video of the presentation is available online for the next two weeks. You are invited to join thousands of others from schools across the U.S. and abroad (Australia, Brazil, Canada, China and Malaysia) who expressed interested in viewing the presentation.
