Are You Ready for Lockdown?

Monroe Community College will be conducting a series of lockdown drills at the Brighton Campus, Damon City Campus and Applied Technologies Center.  Drills are being conducted to increase the college community’s awareness of MCC’s Emergency Response Plan, to highlight measures you can take to keep yourself safe in the unlikely event of an active threat, and to provide an opportunity for all to practice their response.

In an effort to assist with planning for these events, the lockdown drill schedule is as follows:

·         Damon City Campus – Tuesday, November 17, 9:35 a.m.

·         Applied Technologies Center– Thursday, November 19, 9:35 a.m.

·         Brighton Campus – Tuesday, November 24, 9:35 a.m.

We are sharing the drill schedule to allow the college community to plan and prepare. Each drill will begin with an audible announcement advising those on campus that a lockdown drill is underway.  Community members who have registered with MCC Alert will also receive a message as well as a campus-wide e-mail message announcing the drills.  If you are on campus during a lockdown drill,  please  be prepared to follow all instructions immediately.  An “All Clear” message will be delivered when the drill has concluded.  Each drill is expected to last approximately 10 minutes.

Recognizing that the concept of emergency management is an on-going process, the Department of Public Safety is committed to helping the college community know and understand emergency response efforts.  Information regarding emergency management and lockdown procedures may be found on the Public Safety webpage under the Resources Section “Emergency Management” link.  You can also call the Department of Public Safety’s non-emergency number (x2912) or administrative number (x2902) if you have any safety concerns or questions regarding emergency preparedness.
