Coffey Presents at First State Conference on Infancy


Associate Professor Jim Coffey, VaPA, was a panel presenter at the first New York State Conference on Infancy hosted by the New York State Child Care Coordinating Council. The conference was held in Binghamton, Oct. 14 - 16.

The conference comprised professionals, program administrators and policy makers. The panel discussion that included Coffey addressed the principles of family empowerment, engagement and support by looking at various models and principles. Approaches to supporting families, grassroots leadership and innovative strategies for family support services were also explored.

Coffey serves as the president of the Rochester Parent Network, a model for family and care giver support. Dr. Neil Herendeen, associate professor of pediatrics at the University of Rochester Medical Center and a member of the RPN Leadership Council, also presented at the conference.
