Yolonda Stewart Represents MCC, Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL)

Admission Counselor-Community Liaison Yolonda Steward represented MCC at the Annual Conference of the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL) in Chicago. This year's theme, "Plug In, Energize Adult Pathways to Success," addressed adult learners at the nexus point between learning and work.

The CAEL 2019 conference consisted of adult learning specialists, experts and advocates from various adult learning and work ecosystems, such as higher education, employment, government and workforce development. Yolonda presented a research story for the session entitled, "Adult Marketing 101."

In the session, Yolonda shared her perspective of having worked at two large community colleges in a role to market certificate and degree programs to prospective adult students in two different cities, and the commonalities in what adult students are looking for. She also shared how to collaborate with community agencies and employers in order to create effective adult programming. The presentation also included the steps taken to implement the Return to Complete Program.
