Fess Honored as 2008 Outstanding Oncology Nurse


Shelley Fess, assistant professor in Nursing, has been honored as the 2008 Outstanding Oncology Nurse by the Genesee Valley Oncology Nursing Society.  The recipient of this award must demonstrate excellence in oncology nursing.  Areas of accomplishment include significant achievements in a particular area of oncology nursing, demonstrated leadership qualities and participation in activities that foster a positive public image of nursing as a profession.  Shelley’s expertise is recognized by her Advanced Oncology Nursing Certification (AOCN) and certification in Infusion Therapy (CRNI).  Shelley has been a member of GVONS since 1999 and has served as an officer in for this professional organization for nurses specializing in care of cancer patients.  She has been a full-time member of the MCC nursing faculty since September 2003 and also works in a per diem capacity in the Outpatient Oncology and Infusion Therapy Department at Unity Health System.
