News from the MCC Board of Trustees Meeting

The MCC Board of Trustees held its meeting in High Falls A/B on the Downtown Campus on Monday, October 2, 2017. Before taking action on board resolutions (listed below), Board Chair John Bartolotta expressed the Board's condolences to the victims of the Las Vegas shooting and their families, and a moment of silence was held. Further, in light of a student's recent social media post, he affirmed that racist acts and language have no place in our college community. Approved board resolutions included:

1. Accepted the Interim Financial Report as of July 31, 2017.

2. Authorized the purchase of items over $20,000 as listed for the month of July 2017.

3. Authorized the transfer of funds totaling $84,268.

4. Adjusted the 2017/2018 base annual salaries in accordance with Article 46, Salary Equity of the Faculty Association Contractual Agreement. Adjusted salaries will be effective September 1, 2017.

5. Approved the promotion of the following adjunct faculty effective September 1, 2017: from Adjunct Instructor to Adjunct Assistant Professor*, Paul Ciminelli, Homeland Security Management Institute. *correction.

6. Approved the appointment of Ryan Messenger, Assistant to the Vice President, Student Services, effective September 1, 2017.

7. Adopted the "Cyber Security Awareness and Education Policy" effective October 2, 2017. The policy will be included on the college's policy web page.

8. Extended appreciation to John L. Bartolotta for his leadership of the Board, and for his outstanding service to MCC and the thousands of students who enrolled during his tenure as board chair. (Mr. Bartolotta will continue as a trustee.)

9. Conducted an Executive Session pursuant to Public Officers Law §105, subsection (f): the medical, financial, credit or employment history of a particular person or corporation, or matters leading to the appointment, employment, promotion, demotion, discipline, suspension, dismissal or removal of a particular person or corporation.

The Board heard presentations from Athletics Director, Aaron Bouyea, President Anne M. Kress on Charting the Course: 2017-2021 Strategic Plan, and Lauren Dixon, Chair, MCC Foundation Board of Directors on Foundation activities.
