Chancellor Malatras Issues Statements Commending SUNY Colleges and Universities Serving as Vaccination Sites

Yesterday, SUNY Chancellor Jim Malatras issued the following statements:

“Time and time again, SUNY has taken on whatever task was needed to combat COVID, and today is no different. I want to express my gratitude to the University at Albany, Stony Brook University, the University at Buffalo, Binghamton University, and SUNY Potsdam for volunteering to serve as vaccination sites for their respective communities. In the weeks and months to come, eligible New Yorkers will make appointments and arrive at these SUNY campuses to receive the vaccine and protection from COVID-19. I am proud of these institutions for mobilizing so quickly, and of our university system as a whole for continuing to offer major contributions in the battle against this virus.”

“We are in the midst of the next phase of beating back COVID-19 with the distribution of vaccines, and SUNY campuses are opening up resources and space in partnership with local government officials to prepare to vaccinate New Yorkers as the phased approach continues. Suffolk County Community College has already pitched in to help administer the first allotment of vaccines for their County serving as a distribution center, and they are ready as additional deliveries are received. My thanks to Suffolk County Community College for their ongoing service, as SUNY helps our communities beat this virus.”
