News from the March 1 MCC Board of Trustees Meeting

The MCC Board of Trustees met virtually on Monday, March 1, 2021 and took the following actions:

  1. Accepted the Interim Financial Report as of January 31, 2021.
  2. Authorized the purchase of items over $20,000 as listed for the month of January 2021.
  3. Approved the promotion of Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, and Instructors effective September 1, 2021. (See separate article.)
  4. Approved the early retirement incentive for individuals in accordance with Article 50 of the contractual agreement between Monroe Community College and the Faculty Association of Maryann Cianciotto (Visual and Performing Arts) as of August 31, 2021; Robert Kennedy (Law and Criminal Justice) as of June 10, 2021; and Atif Wahba (Biology) as of June 30, 2021.
  5. Approved the reappointment of Non-Contract, Professional Staff, Faculty and Technical Assistance/Advisors as listed at the ranks and titles indicated for the 2021-2022 academic year, or for 12-month employees, between September 1, 2021 and ending August 31, 2022.
  6. Approved an amended effective (start) date of May 10, 2021 and an amended end date of August 31, 2025 for DeAnna Burt-Nanna, sixth president of Monroe Community College.

The Board heard presentations from:

  • Bonadio & Co., LLP representatives regarding the College’s annual audit;
  • CFO and Vice President of Administrative Services Heze Simmons on the Facilities Master Plan;
  • Chief Diversity Officer Calvin Gantt on Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accountability activities at MCC and at SUNY; Vice Presidents Kimberly McKinsey-Mabry on Student Services activities; Todd Oldham on Economic & Workforce Development & Career Technical Education activities; Heze Simmons on Administrative Services activities; Kimberley Collins, on behalf of Andrea Wade, on Academic Services activities; and Gretchen Wood on Institutional Advancement activities (see attachment);
  • MCC Foundation Board of Directors Chair Sergio Esteban provided an update on Foundation activities;
  • Shared Governance groups, including Isabella DeRubeis for the Brighton Campus Student Government Association, Denise Vogel for the Student Events and Governance Association, Nayda Pares-Kane for Faculty Senate, and Dr. Douglas for Administration;
  • Union Association leaders did not provide updates.

Chair Lovenheim announced that she will step down as Board chair on April 1, 2021. She plans to continue to serve as a trustee. Trustee Williams will assume the role of chair on April 1.
