Great Nite at the Ball Game

MCC Night at the Rochester Red Wings was great fun -- thanks to everyone who attended and helped put the event together.

The weather was perfect -- skies were clear and temperatures pretty much held at 71 degrees through the game. The Red Wings won 6 to 5 over the Buffalo Bisons. The Famous San Diego Chicken brought his four little chicks who danced around the field, and later dueled with Barney. Kids - and adults too - loved the entertainment.

MCC's own cheerleaders tossed ballcaps donated by the Brighton Campus Bookstore into the stands. People who stopped by the MCC Table in the Breezeway picked up raffle tickets and won T-shirts and sweatshirts compliments of the MCC Athletics Department. Another hit at the table was free stress balls commemorating our sports teams' four national championships in '05-06. Alumni Danielle Raymo and Sherman Modeste sang the national anthem and "God Bless America" respectively.

Watch out for ball player Jonathan Collins (son of Kimberley Collins) who has an amazing swing. Jonathan threw the first pitch for MCC, with guidance from President Flynn. Check out the photo below. Also during the pregame festivities, a crew of about 40 MCC people held a 25x15 foot U.S. flag on the field.

Plus, a HUGE thank you goes to the volunteers who organized all the fun activities for MCC staff, faculty, students, alumni, family and friends -- Peggy VanKirk, Catherine L'Esperance, Carol Cascarano and Patty Ornt. And many thanks as well to all of the volunteers who worked at the table to share the MCC image with the Greater Rochester community.
