COVID-19 Case Update, Faculty Encouraged to Test This Week

Located in the Flynn Campus Center Forum (3-130), MCC’s Testing Center will be open 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. today, May 9 and 9:00 to 3:00 p.m. tomorrow, May 10. No appointment is necessary. MCC uses COVID-19 antigen rapid tests—a simple and more comfortable nasal test.

This Week’s Surveillance Testing Group: Faculty
COVID-19 testing helps MCC quickly respond to potential outbreaks of COVID-19. Surveillance testing of specific groups of students and employees is an important part of our spring health and safety plan. Faculty are invited and encouraged to participate in COVID-19 testing this week as follows:

  • Today, May 9: Faculty who teach at Applied Technologies Center and the Brighton Campus
  • Tomorrow, May 10: Faculty who teach at the Downtown Campus

Last Week’s Testing Results:

  • 3 positive cases were identified among students, faculty and staff who participated in MCC-administered testing during the week of May 2.
  • 2 students are isolating off campus.
  • No student is isolating on campus.
  • No students are in quarantine and precautionary quarantine.
  • MCC 7-Day Rolling Average On-campus Positivity Rate
    • Students: 2.27%
    • Employees: 1.89%
    • Overall average on-campus positivity rate since onset of pooled testing: 0.32%
  • Monroe County 7-day average positivity rate: 14.4%

Verified Employee COVID Isolation and Quarantine Data as of May 8:*

  • Employees reporting a verified county-issued COVID isolation order: 5
  • Employees remaining under a verified COVID isolation order: 2
  • Employees who have completed a mandatory COVID isolation order and who have been released from said order with a 5-day masking order requirement: 3
  • Employees subject to a county quarantine or pre-quarantine order: 0
