College Update on COVID-19 Testing Efforts & Cases

Out of the 1,411 pooled tests MCC conducted this week, no new positive cases of COVID-19 were identified. Monroe County did notify us of one new positive case identified through another testing source since our last update on March 5.

Our efforts to comply with health and safety standards by wearing masks, staying socially distant and washing our hands are working. Our reward: one of the lowest campus positivity rates within SUNY and the ability to offer the in-person learning experiences and services students need to achieve their goals and maximize their potential.

Currently:

  • No students are isolating on campus.
  • 8 students are isolating off campus.
  • 4 students are in mandatory quarantine off campus.

MCC Testing Stats to Date:

  • 14,178 completed COVID-19 pooled tests
  • 30 total cases identified among students and employees through pooled testing.
  • 0.21% positivity rate.

Next week, mandatory pooled (saliva) testing sessions will be held 2:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 16 and 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 17 in the Flynn Campus Center on the Brighton Campus. No appointment necessary.
