Libraries add new Image Database: ARTStor

The ETS: Libraries are happy to announce to the college community the availbility of a new database called ARTStor.
ARTStor is a 16 museum partnership, involving some of the great museums in the country, including the Smithsonian Institute, Kimbell Art Museum, the Frick Collection, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, etc. It has resulted in broad-based access for educational and scholarly use to " tens of thousands of very high quality digital images - images carefully selected by museum curators representing both well-known masterpieces and thousands of works of art that deserve to be better known. Many of the hidden treasures of major art museums - such as the textiles, photographs, and works on paper that are typically too fragile to be on regular public view - will be available for study by scholars, curators, and students at the more than 300 colleges, universities, art schools and museums now participating in ARTstor. MCC's association with SUNYConnect has provided this new resource that should have applications not only in art, but anthropology, cultural studies, history and many other areas across the curriculum. To access ARTStor:
