Teaching & Creativity Center Announces October Events


The Teaching & Creativity Center’s theme for the 2011-12 year is “Strategies for Teaching Today’s Students.”

TCC Conversation:  A Review of New Student Enrollment: Past, Current, and Future
Andy Freeman, Director of Admissions, will present trends in our enrollment data of new students as a basis for our discussion of what the profile of our students means for our pedagogy.  This session will be repeated as follows:

1.      Wednesday, October 12; 12-1pm; DCC 4-193 (the DCC Community Room)
2.      Wednesday, October 19; 12-1pm; 12-201 (the new TCC at Brighton)
3.      Thursday, October 20, 3:30-4:30pm; 12-201 (the new TCC at Brighton)

TCC Workshop: Service Learning
Tracy Wyant, faculty member in Education and Service Learning Coordinator, will explain what Service Learning means to course design.  Faculty will share the steps for implementing Service Learning and share personal experiences with this high-impact approach to pedagogy. This session will be repeated as follows:

1.      Wednesday, October 26; 12-1pm; Room TBA (Tracy will present with Joe Sturnick, faculty member in Law & Criminal Justice).
2.      Friday, October 28; 12-1pm; Room TBA (Tracy will present with Kathleen Conklin, faculty member in Business Administration/Economics).
