A CASH Opportunity for Students!

For students intending on taking ACC 101, ACC 204, ECO 103 or SVL 101 there is a model service-learning opportunity with the Creating Assets, Savings and Hope (CASH) program in place of some traditional course requirements.  This is strictly an option within the sections offering the service project.

C.A.S.H. operates with the help of many community partners and hundreds of volunteers.  These volunteers help working families do their taxes, open bank accounts, get health insurance, learn about credit repair and budgeting, etc.  Depending on the course, students may have the opportunity to serve with this organization as a Tax Preparer or an Advisor.  In doing so, the student will provide a valuable and greatly needed service to their fellow workers and their families in this community.  By working with individuals to correctly complete their taxes or provide financial information, students help bring back millions of dollars to local families that need every penny.

Please advise your students to look for course sections in BANNER that have an SV after the title or indicate service-learning hours under the title.  These are the course sections offering this service project.  Please contact Susan Bender at <mailto:sbender@monroecc.edu> or 262-1710 for more information or to obtain an application to the CASH program.
