Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month: the Latin Fiesta

As part of the national Hispanic Heritage Month, PLUS is coordinating the first MCC “Latin Fiesta” where components of the Hispanic/Latino culture will be shared through music, dance performances and food.  The Latin Fiesta will be held on Thursday, October 15th from 4:30 until 6:30 pm at the Gillman Lounge at the Brighton Campus.  This is a great opportunity to socialize and increase the awareness of the Hispanic/Latin culture at the College.

Dr. Kress will provide the welcome, followed by dance performances by the Borinquen Dance Theater.  Dr. Emeterio “Pete” Otero will be sharing information about the state of Latinos in Higher Education.    Live performances and an educational art session will be provided by the Latino Cultural Center.

The Latin Fiesta is sponsored by the Diversity Council and is limited to MCC faculty and staff only.  We are asking that you bring a dish to pass.  It can be a traditional Hispanic/Latin dish, or any other food you’d like to share.   This would be a great time to showcase the Hispanic/Latin culture, so if you have art or other items that can be displayed, feel free to bring them.  Hope to see you at the Latin Fiesta!
