MCC to Form National Society of Black Engineers Club (NSBE)

MCC is looking for students who are interested in being a part of starting up a sister chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers.  The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), with more than 30,000 members, is one of the largest student-managed organization in the country.

NSBE comprises more than 233 chapters on college and university campuses, 65 Alumni Extension chapters nationwide and 89 Pre-College chapters. These chapters are geographically divided into six regions.

The National Society of Black Engineers strive to accomplish the following objectives:

Stimulate and develop student interest in the various engineering disciplines.
Strive to increase the number of minority students studying engineering at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Encourage members to seek advanced degrees in engineering or related fields and to obtain professional engineering registrations.

Promote public awareness of engineering and the opportunities for Blacks and other minorities in that profession.
Function as a representative body on issues and developments that affect the careers of Black Engineers
Maintain and seek leadership opportunities for learning and developing students

The students will be having their first interest meeting on Tuesday, November 25th, 2008 in room 9-129.  If you would like further information, please contact  (via e-mail) SHR_cstep@monroecc.edu.
