Gasland Movie Screening

“Hydrofracking” is a new technique used to extract natural gas from rock by fracturing it under intense hydraulic pressure. The fluid used in this process contains potentially hazardous chemicals such as diesel fuel, biocides, benzene, and hydrochloric acid.  Public concerns associated with hydrofracking have increased as proposals to begin using this extraction process in NYS continue. Currently there is a moratorium on hydrofracking in NYS until June 1, 2012. When this suspension ends, will natural gas be extracted safely without compromising our drinking water? Join us on Thursday, December 8th at 5:30 PM to view Gasland, a documentary about hydrofracking, and participate in a post-movie discussion.
