Please inform your students that the Sallie Mae Fund's 2009-2010 scholarship application season opened this week for students attending college in the fall. The Sallie Mae Fund provides scholarships to those in financial need. Its programs include:
* The American Dream Scholarship Program -- developed in partnership with United Negro College Fund -- offers scholarships ranging from $500 to $5,000 to African-American students with demonstrated financial need. The deadline is April 15.
* The First in My Family Scholarship Program -- developed in partnership with the Hispanic College Fund, offers scholarships ranging from $500 to $5,000 to Hispanic-American students who are the first in their families to attend college and have financial need. The deadline is April 15.
* The Unmet Need Scholarship Program -- open to families with a combined income of less than $30,000. The scholarships provide a last-dollar resource when no other funds are available. The deadline is May 31.
Eligibility requirements and deadline information are available on The Sallie Mae Fund Web site: https://www.thesalliemaefund.org/scholarships. The Sallie Mae Fund also has online resources to help students research scholarships available from other organizations.
