Geography Awareness Week Prize Winners

In 1987, President Ronald Reagan signed legislation establishing the third week in November as Geography Awareness Week.  Twenty years later, geographers continue to promote the importance of geographic literacy throughout the United States and Canada.  This year, MCC’s Geosciences Department celebrated the 2nd annual Geography Awareness Week with an online quiz that challenged participants in physical geography, human geography, and geographic techniques. Sixty-five people took the quiz.  Three staff/faculty and three students received a perfect score (20/20).  After the tie-breaker, the top three performing students were: Bradley Kommeth, Benjamin Savory, and Lisa Continelli.  The top three performing faculty/staff were Pamela Keyes, Ann Penwarden, and Linda Ziegler.  These geography gurus received their geography themed prizes from Geosciences faculty: Michael Boester, Jonathon Little and Dan Robertson.
