Another Surprise for Red Wing Night (TONIGHT)

Hello again baseball fans!  We have one more surprise in store for you for tonight at MCC Night at the Rochester Red Wings! A guest entertainer will be on hand – none other than the famous San Diego Chicken!  Now, I know many of you are old enough to remember this show-stopping mascot, but for the “youngsters” among you here is some information on just how famous this San Diego Padres mascot was:

San Diego Union, the late and legendary sports editor Jack Murphy wrote, "The Chicken has the soul of a poet. He is an embryonic Charles Chaplin in chicken feathers."

The Sporting News said, "In show biz, they call his kind 'Show Stoppers.' In baseball, The Chicken is a game stopper. They might even consider him for stopping wars."

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer stated, "The Chicken is the brightest and one of the most ingenious entertainers ever to grace the sports scene."

Time Magazine offered, "More than anything else, baseball should learn to peddle the real nostalgia--Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier, Lou Gehrig's farewell speech and the first appearance of the San Diego Chicken."

Come down to Frontier field tonight and join in on all the fun.  You can still buy tickets online at HYPERLINK "https://redwings.bonzidev.com/"https://redwings.bonzidev.com (password: mcc) and pick them up at Will Call or purchase them at the Brighton Campus Information and Service Desk or Damon City Campus Bookstore.  Don’t forget to stop at the MCC Table in the Breezeway and say hi to some of your colleagues!  Play Ball!
