Diane Shoger Receives CASE Commonfund Award

Please join me in congratulating MCC Foundation Executive Director Diane Shoger for being one of two recipients of this year’s Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Commonfund Institutionally Related Foundation Award.

This prestigious award recognizes professionals who have made extraordinary contributions to the advancement, quality and effectiveness of their foundations and the sector nationally. Both two- and four-year college foundations are considered for this award. Diane is only the sixth recipient in the award’s history who represents a community college foundation.

Diane joined the MCC Foundation in 1999 as director of development and major gifts. She was named executive director in 2008. During her tenure, she has overseen two capital campaigns that raised $18.1 million total and exceeded goals by $2.1 million. She is currently leading an initiative to raise $50 million in support of the academic endowment and scholarships. In 2013-2014, the MCC Foundation awarded 731 scholarships to MCC students, totaling more than $1 million for the first time in the Foundation’s history.

She is a longtime member of and volunteer for CASE, and has played a pivotal role in the development of the CASE Conference for Community College Advancement.

James H. Moore Jr., president and chief executive officer of the University of Arizona Foundation, will also receive the award.

The awards are sponsored by Commonfund, which provides fund management services and investment advice to nonprofit organizations. The winners will be recognized April 23 at the 23rd annual CASE Conference for Institutionally Related Foundations in New Orleans, La.
