Vice President Salvador Presents at ACPA Conference

Vice President for Student Services Susan M. Salvador, Ed.D. recently concluded her one-year presidential term for the American College Personnel Association (ACPA) at the 87th Annual ACPA Conference in Baltimore, Maryland.  She had the honor of being the second individual working at a community college to serve as president.  ACPA is the leading comprehensive student affairs association that advances student affairs and engages students for a lifetime of learning and discovery.  ACPA consists of 8,500 members, representing 1,500 private and public institutions from across the U.S. and around the world.

At ACPA’s conference, Vice President Salvador was among the featured speakers at the opening ceremony and served as one of four panelists for the capstone discussion titled “Redefining Student Affairs Work:  The Future of Student Affairs, Revisited.”  Throughout the conference, she engaged with and spoke to groups representing over 30 contingencies within ACPA and the thousands of members in attendance.

During her term as ACPA President, she brought much deserved attention to the needs of student veterans, the increasingly challenging and diverse needs of students, the global influence of student services, and the importance of the community college and its role in higher education.  She also led ACPA in the process of consolidation with the Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (NASPA) which has 11,000 members at 1,400 campuses and represents 29 countries.
