Community Fridays for a Cause Starts Tomorrow!

Our first Community Fridays for a Cause will be Friday, October 3, 2014.

As most of us know, Rochester police officer, Daryl Pierson, age 32, was killed on Wednesday, September 3, 2014.  He is the first RPD officer to be shot and killed in the line of duty since 1959.  Officer Pierson graduated from Monroe Community College’s Public Safety Training Facility in 2007, he was an 8-year member of the Rochester Police Department, and an army veteran who served in Afghanistan.  He is survived by his wife, Amy, and two young children, a 4-year-old son and a 3-month-old daughter.

Please show your support for the Pierson family and MCC’s commitment to the community by making a donation in exchange for the opportunity to dress casually.  Casual dress can be defined in a variety of ways, please check with your department leadership to define parameters acceptable for your office.  We encourage MCC gear and school colors whenever appropriate.

Donations will be collected in each department and donation envelopes are being delivered.  All checks should be made out to the Officer Daryl R. Pierson Memorial Fund.  Please bring the donation envelopes to Jodee Biller in the Controller’s Office, 6-110 by 4:00 pm on Friday.  If you are located at DCC, please call HR at ext. 2048 to make arrangements for the envelopes to be delivered to the Brighton Campus.

Thank you in advance for your support!
