Summertime and Your Voice Mailbox

Summertime and Your Voice Mailbox

Aahh!  Summer is finally here and at MCC that means flex time, vacations, or a break from teaching. While this is a great time, it can cause some difficulty for your colleagues or students when trying to reach you. Changing your greeting to reflect your availability and/or who to contact in your absence will assist your callers.

Here’s the “quick and easy” on how to set up your voice mailbox to reflect your absence.

For staff on the new Cisco and voice mail system:

To set up an “Out of Office” greeting:

§         Access your voice mailbox

from on campus – press messages button

from off campus – dial 292-8300

·        Press 4 – 7

·        Follow the prompts

NOTE:

·        Your “Out of Office” greeting is now on and the next time you access your mailbox the system will ask you if you want to turn it off.  When you opt to turn it off, your regular greeting which was automatically saved, will resume.

·        When using the “Out of Office” greeting, no messages can be left in your mailbox. However, your mailbox can be programmed to receive messages by contacting Marilyn Christian, x2072.

For staff not yet converted to the new phone/voice mail systems:

To set up an “Extended Absence Greeting”

·        Access your voice mailbox

from on campus – press 7300

from off campus – dial 292-2000

·        Press 4 – 7

·        Follow the prompts

           NOTE:

·        This does replace your regular greeting which you will have to record again when you return to the office.

·        No messages can be left in your mailbox.

·        If you would like to continue to receive message during your absence you can change your “regular greeting”.

·        Access your voice mailbox

from on campus – press 7300

from off campus – dial 292-2000

·        Press 4 – 6

·        Follow the prompts
