Highlight: Learning Support Services' Response to COVID-19

Over the next few days, I wanted to take the opportunity to highlight the excellent work in some specific departments that has made such a difference in our ability to support students and each other.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Learning Supports Systems rolled out online tutoring services through the TutorOcean platform. Learning Support Systems diligently worked to have the TutorOcean platform up and running in only four days, just in time to support the start of remote learning. After accessing institutional needs for providing online learning assistance, Learning Support Systems worked to roll out a more superior and accessible platform. In partnership with GoBoard, Learning Support Systems has used TutorTrac to schedule appointments and facilitate synchronous online tutoring sessions in various academic disciplines. With the implementation of TutorTrac, Learning Support Systems has collaborated to provide online subcenters for the Applied Technology Center, Dental Studies, Information and Computer Technologies, Educational Opportunity Program and TRIO Student Support Services. Between July 13, 2020, and December 18, 2020, the college has facilitated 2,721 sessions for a total of 4,006 hours of tutoring. Tutors and SI leaders were also able to reach 1,099 students by providing additional support in the CircleIn Application.

Thanks so much to the dedicated professionals in Learning Support Services who continue to support students success every day!
