Rochester AmeriCorps Celebrates 20th Anniversary

Rochester AmeriCorps celebrated 20 years of service on Friday, July 11, by hosting over 200 Western New York National Service members to the area for a service project and celebratory cookout. Members spent the morning leading a cleanup of the Genesee Valley Park and Genesee Waterways Center as a way to give back to their community.

The event was well attended by government officials and friends of the program. Jermaine Watts, assistant to Mayor Lovely Warren, delivered an official proclamation of Rochester’s 20 years of collaboration with AmeriCorps. Caitlin Hondorf from Representative Louise Slaughter’s office offered support and congratulations for the positive influence AmeriCorps members provide in Rochester and throughout New York State.  A letter was issued by Senator Kirsten Gillibrand’s office to congratulating all of the AmeriCorps members and staff for 20 dedicated years of service at the event.

Rochester AmeriCorps is currently accepting applicants for the 2014 – 2015 term of service beginning September 8, 2014. Visit <https://www.rochesteramericorps.org> for more information.
