Collaborative Program for High School Students Highlighted

On July 26, 11 Monroe County high school students completed the Summer Advanced Manufacturing Experience program and earned college credits from MCC for their participation. The program, in its second year, introduces rising sophomores and juniors to careers in advanced manufacturing by providing hands-on training and company tours and strives to build a robust pipeline to MCC's degree and certificate programs and eventually to the local workforce.

Joining the students at their graduation ceremony on Friday at the Applied Technologies Center were President Kress, Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks, BOCES 2 Superintendent Jo Anne Antonacci, RochesterWorks CEO Peter Pecor, RTMA President Kevin Kelley, and Optimax CEO Mike Mandina. Many thanks to Bob Lasch, program coordinator at ATC, for his leadership on this initiative.

The Summer Advanced Manufacturing Experience is the result of a collaborative partnership among Monroe County, MCC, Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES and the Finger Lakes Advanced Manufacturers’ Enterprise.
