Passing of Dale Fones


The college community mourns the passing of retiree Dale L. Fones on November 12 at the age of 87.

Mr. Fones joined MCC in 1968 as a civil service maintenance mechanic in the Maintenance Department. He was promoted to building maintenance supervisor in 1976 before retiring in 1984. During his years at MCC, Mr. Fones was recognized many times for his outstanding workmanship and work ethic. Prior to coming to MCC, he worked at Geck Plumbing & Heating Supply Co. in Rochester for 18 years and served in the Army from 1943 to 1946 in North Africa and Italy, where he was wounded.

Mr. Fone was predeceased by his wife, Betty Babcock Fones. He is survived by his sisters, Lorraine Walkenhorst and Ruth Heinman; brothers, Frank and Richard Fones; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours were Sunday, Nov. 15 at New Comer Funeral Home in Greece and were followed by a memorial service.
