LPP Director Spotlighted on TV News Show

Susan Gunther, longtime director of the Liberty Partnerships Program, was featured in last week’s Need to Know Rochester news program on WXXI-TV. She was recognized as an American Graduate Champion who is making a positive impact on students -- and in the local community -- and helping them succeed on their educational journeys. Vikki DiMatteo, LPP academic adviser, nominated Susan for the honor.

Housed at MCC’s Damon City Campus, LPP is a precollegiate program in MCC’s Department of Education serving at-risk youths in grades 7-12 in the Rochester City School District. The program provides tutoring, academic support/advisement services, educational workshops and social/cultural experiences.

The American Graduate Champions special series, a partnership with the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, is a part of a larger national effort to help communities keep more students on the path to a high school diploma, college credential and successful careers.
