Marie Fetzner Presents Workshop on Online Student Retention

Marie Fetzner, Assistant to the Vice President, ETS, and ETS liaison to the Damon City Campus, co-facilitated a Sloan Consortium (Sloan-C) online workshop entitled Retention Strategies in Online Education. Ruth Bennett, from the Communication Department at Western Carolina University, was Marie’s co-facilitator. Over 50 individuals from the lower 48 states and Alaska participated in discussions on online retention best practices using Sloan-C’s Five Pillars of Quality framework: Access, Scale, Learning Effectiveness, Student Satisfaction and Faculty Satisfaction. The Sloan Consortium is “an institutional and professional leadership organization dedicated to integrating online education into the mainstream of higher education, helping institutions and individual educators improve the quality, scale, and breadth of education.”

MCC is a member of Sloan-C and Marie serves on the editorial board of Sloan-C’s Journal of Asynchronous Learning Networks (JALN). Additional information on Sloan-C can be found at: https://www.sloan-c.org.
