Get Ready to E-Recycle Your Computers and Electronics on Nov. 7!

Looking to safely dispose of an outdated television, cell phone or computer? The Geosciences Association of Monroe Community College is pleased to host its second e-recycling event, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 7, at MCC’s Brighton Campus, Lot M-1. The event is hosted in partnership with Rochester-based Maven Technologies, LLC.

The college community is invited to recycle cell phones, computers and electronic equipment at no charge; some computer monitors and televisions will require a $5 fee to recycle. (A list of acceptable items is available at https://www.maventech.com/events/acceptable_items.pdf. ) Proceeds and donations will support geosciences-related field trips and guest lecturers to benefit students at the college.  A portion of the monetary donations will also be donated to FOODLINK.

With the exponential growth of technology and a growing awareness of environmental concerns for computer and electronic waste, the correct recycling of equipment decreases illegal and hazardous disposal of these items in area landfills.

The Geosciences Association is a student organization dedicated to earth sciences education and service. Through weekly meetings, field trips and community service, association members further their knowledge and the ideas and aims of the geosciences.

FOODLINK serves over 550 programs throughout a 10-county area, including emergency shelters, soup kitchens, food pantries, day care providers, and group homes. Donated funds touch thousands of lives across the area.

For more information on the event and acceptable items for recycling, call the MCC Chemistry and Geosciences Department at x2425.
