Rochester AmeriCorps is currently accepting applications for the 2017-2018 term of service. AmeriCorps is a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service that engages people of all ages and backgrounds in strengthening America's communities through service. Rochester AmeriCorps is an education focused program in which members serve full time for eleven months at Rochester City schools and community organizations that partner with the schools with a mission to improve academic engagement, college and career readiness, and positive school climate. The 2017-2018 term of service will begin on September 11, 2017 and will end on August 12, 2018.

We are seeking individuals who can commit to serving 40+ hours a week for the full eleven month term. Member placements are available at primary and secondary schools in the RCSD as well as pre-collegiate programs that partner with city schools. Essential member activities vary depending on the host site and may include: contributing to extra-curricular or enrichment activities, providing academic and behavioral supports, supporting attendance initiatives, tutoring one-on-one or small groups, providing college / career preparation services, coordinating school and community events, and conducting outreach to parents and members of the Rochester community. Members are able to build meaningful relationships with students, staff, and administrators and contribute to a positive school climate

Benefits of service include: bi-weekly living allowance of $522 (estimated, pre-tax), the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of $5,815 (upon program completion), National Service Forbearance on qualified student loans, no cost health insurance, child care subsidy (if eligible), specialized training and ongoing professional development and networking opportunities.
