A former MCC photography student recently won an American Advertising Award for her work done in Iceland.
Candice Grimes, MCC Visual Communications - Photography/TV (VC02) graduate, won an ADDY award at the 2017 RAF American Advertising Awards on Thursday, March 16. Candice won the ADDY for best photography campaign in the self-promotion category.
The winning photography project was done in the “Identity and Landscape - Photographic Explorations in Iceland” on location course taught by VaPA professor Jasna Bogdanovska in June 2016. Fourteen students had an amazing opportunity to explore a new culture and grow as photographers while exploring the natural beauty of Iceland. On location courses offer students a taste of another culture through short term study abroad designed and led by MCC faculty.
Among the entries in the student categories was work from RIT, Nazareth College, Ithaca College, and Syracuse University students.
Esteemed judges from the top advertising agencies in Boston judged both the professional and student submissions this year.
The American Advertising Awards is the advertising industry's largest and most representative competition that recognizes and rewards the creative spirit of excellence in the art of advertising. Close to 600 guests attended this year’s RAF event held at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.
Please see attached photos and Candice’s project explanation.
