Colleagues Complete National Career Development Training

During the spring term, 12 members of our college community participated in the National Career Development Association's (NCDA) Facilitating Career Development (FCD) training. FCD is 120 hours of in-depth career development training provided by a nationally certified instructor. During the training, participants learned how to incorporate career development information in their work, help students explore their interests and make informed choices, and plan careers. Please join me in congratulating our colleagues who completed the training and required hours: Rebecca Babcock, Schools @ MCC; Tracey Britton, Admissions Office; Amy Coon, Schools @ MCC; Krista Hauschild, Schools @ MCC; Gary Johnson, Schools @ MCC; Jennifer Kinslow, Advisement and Transfer Services; Sheila Manns, Economic Development and Innovative Workforce Services; Denee Martin, Admissions Office; Steve Palmer, Schools @ MCC; Vicki Pankratz, Schools @ MCC; Natasja M Rudge, Schools @ MCC; and Corinne L Shanahan, DC Student Services.

Additionally, participants paired up and developed a capstone project that demonstrated understanding of the NCDA's 12 career development competencies. The capstone project consisted of a 45-minute presentation focused on the career development needs of a specific student population served by MCC. See the following for capstone project titles and contact our colleagues if you are interested in learning more about their project.

Amy & Vicki: "Exploring Students"

Corinne & Steve: "Underemployed Students"

Becky & Jen: "ESL/ELL Students Seeking Careers in Healthcare"

Krista & Natasja: "Adult Learners"

Denee & Tracey: "Career Exploration with High School Students Transitioning to College"

Gary & Sheila: "Supporting African American Males Exploration of Information Technology Careers"
