Degree Works is Around the Corner!  Coming in March!

This past year Degree Works was rolled out to faculty and staff.  Elizabeth West and Steve Palmer from Advisement and Graduation Services (AGS) developed the Degree Works workshop (ADV 104) and provided training to several offices (they are also working on an online tutorial for students).    Advanced user workshops (ADV 204) are scheduled for this spring semester. AGS Advisor-Liaisons have also trained faculty and department secretaries during academic department meetings. Feedback has been very positive!  Degree Works, which will replace CAPP as the college’s new “GPS” (Graduation Planning System), will be of great help to our students in mapping their way to completion!

This soft roll-out has helped the Degree Works team iron out some wrinkles in processing and programming before we turn it out to students.  While we anticipate future “tweaks,” we hope that they are minimal.  Thank you to everyone who has helped with the project so far, with special thanks to Deb Watson and Beth Garrisi from Computing and IT Services for their hard work and dedication in building Degree Works to fit MCC’s needs!

A marketing campaign supported by Toni Robbins, AGS, will begin in February to alert students to the transition from CAPP to Degree Works.  The go-live date to start using Degree Works and stop using CAPP for advising is March 9, 2015 which coincides with priority registration for fall 2015.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, FACE (Financial Aid Course Eligibility) is NOT going to be installed in Degree Works until a later date. The FACE team (consisting of over 80 MCC staff) will continue to have access to FACE CAPP for FACE purposes only. Advisors and students can and should continue to use the same criteria to determine FACE with Degree Works.
