The MCC Wellness Council "Gets Physical" This Fall; Open House Thursday October 8th!


As summer fades and fall begins, the Wellness Council would like to encourage everyone to “stay warm” by adding physical activity to your daily routine.  Research has shown that the benefits of walking and moderate physical activity for at least 30 minutes a day can help you:

*       Reduce the risk of coronary heart disease
*       Improve blood pressure and blood sugar levels
*       Improve blood lipid profile
*       Maintain body weight and lower the risk of obesity
*       Enhance mental well being
*       Reduce the risk of osteoporosis
*       Reduce the risk of breast and colon cancer
*       Reduce the risk of non-insulin dependent (type 2) diabetes

Getting started is the hardest part!  The Wellness Council invites you to take it “one step at a time” by joining us for any of the upcoming activities we have planned for October and November: 

1.      MCC Fitness Facilities Open House, Thursday, October 8:  4 pm, meet in the PAC Lobby.  See attached flyer.  The first 25 attendees will receive a FREE Tribunes water bottle. 

2.      MCC Foundation Homecoming 5k Walk/Run for Scholarships, Saturday, October 10: 11 am, MCC Brighton Campus.

3.      AAWCC Pink the PAC and Atrium - Walk/Run to benefit the Rochester Breast Cancer Coalition, Wednesday, October 14: Noon at the DCC Atrium and PAC.

4.      East Ave Grocery Run, Saturday, November 7: East Avenue at Meigs Street.   Join Team MCC, register online: h <https://runsignup.com/Race/Register/?raceId=11070
