Katherine (Kate) Clark Receives 2008 ENG/PHL Adjunct Teaching Award

Dear Members of our College Community,
Sincere congratulations to Katherine (Kate) Clark, this year's ENG/PHL Adjunct Teaching Award recipient!
ENG/PHL adjunct Caren Pita, who served on the awards committee, stated of Kate's class on Othello,  "I noticed that the students took their work in Professor Clark's class seriously. I observed several approach her before class with questions, and she addressed each one beautifully. She also approached some students, who responded well to her. When students talked to each other, they were also discussing their plans for the final essay--and not in a moaning, groaning way. Her students seemed to feel empowered to succeed as students of literature."

Chris Perri, also a long-time adjunct, participated on the committee.  He states,

"Professor Clark made sound connections between the day's material and past/future classes. Logistically, she managed time/content very well. She handled conversational 'curve balls' well, and demonstrated control of the class. Very good syllabus and assignments, to boot."

Kate joined the our department in Fall 2007, and she teaches both "College Composition" and "Introduction to Literature."

Sincerely,
Christopher Otero, Associate Professor of English
