MCC Daily Tribune

Please join us Monday, October 15th to learn more about the MCC TPSID/TEAM Program

The number of college-based programs for students with intellectual disabilities is growing across the country. The 2008 Higher Education Opportunity Act initiated this possibility, and program opportunities exist at several colleges in the Rochester area. MCC has a program that supports students with intellectual disabilities, currently called "TPSID", which stands for Transition and Postsecondary Programs for Students with Intellectual Disabilities.

The MCC TPSID program has three partners: Lifetime Assistance, Inc. Arc of Monroe, and the Greece School District. All students focus on employment skills and career development, and some audit college courses in a selected pathway. Students enjoy being included at the Brighton and Downtown campuses when participating in clubs and events, and value being part of the community of diverse learners.

This presentation will discuss benefits of an inclusive college experience for students with intellectual disabilities, and details about the TPSID program at MCC.

Date: Monday, October 15th
Time: 11:00am-12:00pm
Location: Brighton Campus, Building 10, Room 182 (PAC Conference Room)
Presenter: Jean McCrumb, TEAM/TPSID Coordinator
