Angelique Stevens' Trip to Sudan as Told Through the Pen of Nancy O'Donnell

“Meet… the Well Wisher,” a feature article by Nancy O’Donnell (English/Philosophy), highlights Angelique Stevens’ (English/Philosophy) recent adventure to southern Sudan. The article appears in the May-June 2008 issue of Rochester Magazine.

In February, Stevens and others traveled for more than 24 hours before arriving in the village of Abilnyang to help MCC alumnus Salva Dut build a fresh water well for the villagers. Dut is the founder of Water for Sudan, an organization that transforms lives in Sudan by giving people direct access to water. Water for Sudan is supported by the Holocaust Genocide Studies Project at MCC, for which Stevens serves as assistant director.

Stevens will be joined by student leaders to present Dut with another check to support Water for Sudan next month. An event is also being planned for Stevens to share her story and photos from her trip next fall.
