Massage Therapy Program to be Deactivated

Monroe Community College will close its Massage Therapy program effective June 2012. This decision was made following careful analysis of the local job market which indicated limited full-time career opportunities for program graduates. With the success of our students and graduates being our highest priority, MCC will deactivate the program. No more students will be admitted into the program.

The students currently enrolled in the program have been notified that course work must be completed by June 2012. The Health and Physical Education Department will assist students who are not prepared to finish by that time to explore educational options at other institutions. Students are also aware that assistance is available from the Counseling and Advising and Career and Transfer centers during this transition.

Thank you to Deneen Rhode (Health and Physical Education) who launched the program in 2002 and the many people across the college and in the community who supported the success of its graduates through their patronage of the Massage Therapy Clinic. The clinic will be open for the Spring 2011 and Spring 2012 semesters in order for students to complete their clinical experience.
