Scholars' Day is this Saturday, April 29: Admission Free & Lunch Provided

Celebrate academic excellence at MCC by showing your support of the 114 students who will present their original research at MCC’s 9th annual Scholars’ Day, 9:30 a.m. to 2:35 p.m. Saturday, April 29 at MCC’s Brighton Campus, Building 12. The event provides high quality research experiences for students and rewards top presenters with a total of $25,000 in scholarships made possible by supporters of the MCC Foundation. Scholars’ Day is free and open to the public.

The full schedule is available online. Presentation topics reflect a wide array of academic disciplines including anthropology, biology, chemistry, communications, economics, engineering, higher education, literature, physics, political science, psychology, and sociology. Student presentations eligible for scholarship awards are judged on specific criteria, including originality and creativity, depth of understanding of the topic, and effectiveness of the presentation.

Scholarships will be presented to students at a private luncheon featuring Scholars’ Day keynote speaker Margot Lee Shetterly on Wednesday, May 3. Shetterly is the author of Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race. Her 7 p.m. keynote lecture is presented by ESL Charitable Foundation and open to the public. Tickets to the keynote event are available online.

We hope to see you there.
