Educational Technology Services invites all MCC faculty, staff and administration to the following Brown Bag Lunch Sessions in December. Sessions take place during COLLEGE HOUR (12-1 pm) in ROOM 11-101 unless otherwise noted. These sessions discuss a variety of technology topics. No registration is required – just show up!

iPods are everywhere!  What are they and what can they do for you? Paul Tracy (Instructional Technologies) and Joe Gerardi (Communications and Network Services) will present on these fascinating new devices. Learn about the traditional iPod along with the iPod Shuffle and the brand new iPod Video. See and feel a few iPods up close and personal. Learn about this cool new gadget that everyone is talking about!

Plasma screens? Flat screens?? Flat panels??? LCDs???? CRTs????? Remember the days when you could buy a good old-fashioned color TV with one humungous dial to change the station? Well those days are gone forever, and Jeremy Case of Instructional Technologies will help bring you into the 21st century with the latest on video display technology just in time for your holiday gift-giving.


NETWORKING @ HOME

With broadband internet connections and multiple computers in our households many of us now have or are considering building a network in our homes. Items covered in this discussion are the alphabet soup that is network standards including wired and wireless, the usual suspects that are threats to home network security, and some best practices to mitigate those threats. Presented by Joseph Gerardi, Computer Specialist, Communications and Network Services.
