Book Store Credits

Books can be a big expense for students, but an important part of a student's academic success at MCC. Please inform your students that they can use financial aid to help pay for books and supplies. Book store credits are provided by the Financial Aid Office for students who want to buy books in the MCC Bookstore.

To obtain a book credit students must:

1.    complete the entire financial aid application process
2.    submit all required documents to the College
3.    have more than enough financial aid to cover your bill

If students apply for financial Aid early enough and are eligible for enough aid, the college will establish a "book credit" in the bookstore.

When will the book credits be available?
Book Credits are available beginning one week before classes begin for eligible students. We continue to give credits to students through the 3rd week of classes.

The amount of the book credit is based on:
1.    the number of credit hours a student is taking
2.    the amount of financial aid a student is receiving
Typically, students receive $40 per class credit to buy books

If a student does not use all of his or her available book credit, the remaining amount will be mailed to the student after the college determines that you are still attending after 4 weeks. These checks begin to be mailed during the 6th week of the semester.

Book credit increases are allowed only for REQUIRED books and if student has excess financial aid. The Financial Aid Office will need copy of receipts of all items purchased with financial aid and a voided receipt of the additional items to be purchased. Please have these items ready before coming up to the financial aid window.

The last day to use bookstore credits is Friday, February 15, 2008.
